Publishing companies now entering a world of change driven by customers accessing and using content in different ways. This latest shift is much more fundamental and comes from advancements in telecommunications, the internet, devices such as phones and tablets, and so on. E-learning is an area of interest of publishing companies, especially for companies that oriented on learning materials.
Our client publishing company with interests in language learning books market. To enlarge company's influence to language learning books market, client's company prepares electronic version of their paper books, and proposes solution for creating e-learning process for universities. Existing solution developed by 3-d party company, became obsolete, haven't matched company needs absolutely,royalties was not discharged. Our task was to develop UX/UI design of application, which will provide visibility and ease of use for all the workflows, communications, and interactions between students and instructors. Application will be used by Students and Instructors to support all the activities and pedagogical approaches while learning and teaching World Languages.
In terms of time limit(3 months) project was leaded in Lean UX methodology. Inspired by Lean and Agile development theories, Lean UX is the practice of bringing result much faster, with less emphasis on deliverables and greater focus on the actual experience being designed.
Lean UX is driving to a goal — to understand a users, to achieve business needs, to solve a issue. It is not sufficient to aim at a goal, though, we must also observe the outcome and note whether we hit the goal. And if not, we need to try again.
Process build around prototyping process. As with the initial sketches, focusing the prototype on critical components of the experience is essential. The fidelity of the prototype ultimately doesn’t matter at first. Successful lean prototypes have been created just with enough fidelity that helps us better visualise the experience.
Next, and most important and interesting, is prototype validating whether we’re meeting the needs of the business. User test helps to figure out what worked and what didn’t.
Prototyping puts the power of validating the direction much more quickly in the hands of the ultimate decider: customers.
As result, validated, prototpyped and ready to development solution has been delivered. Next iteration is planing in paralel with back-end development. Main focus for next iteration - visaul design for particalar courses content.
